The Food Corporation of India was setup under the Food Corporation Act 1964, in order to fulfill following objectives of the Food Policy: Effective price support operations for safeguarding the interests of the farmers; Distribution of food grains throughout the country for public distribution system; Maintaining satisfactory level of operational and buffer stocks of food grains to ensure National Food Security. Since its inception, FCI has played a significant role in India's success in transforming the crisis management oriented food security into a stable security system.
The Staff Selection Commission, under a special dispensation given by the Government of India, will hold an open competitive examination for  recruitment to Category III posts (General,  Accounts,  Depot and Technical cadres ) in Food Corporation of Indian in the pay scale of Rs.9300-22940/- (IDA pattern). The selected candidates will be full time employees of FCI and will be governed by terms, conditions and service rules of FCI. The tentative number of vacancies is 6545 which may vary at the discretion of FCI.
A graduate in any discipline from a recognized University can appear for Assistant Grade III (Gen) exam - Post Code A and for Assistant Grade III (Depot) exam - Post Code D.
For Assistant Grade III (Acc) - Post Code B, the candidate should be a commerce graduate from a recognized University.
Any individual who holds a B.Sc. in Agriculture/ Botany/Zoology/Microbiology /Bio- Technology/Bio-Chemistry/Food Science from a recognized University or B.Tech/BE in Food Science/Food Science & Technology/Agricultural Engineering/Bio-Technology from a recognized University/an institution approved by AICTE can appear for Assistant Grade III (Tech) exam -- Post Code C.
Proficiency in Computers is a must requirement to apply for either of the four posts.
Any individual with the above mentioned educational qualification and who has not crossed 27 years of age as on 1st August, 2012, is eligible to apply. However, the maximum age limit is relaxed for following Categories as given below:
(a) 5 years for SC/ST candidates. 
(b) 3 years for OBC candidates. 
(c) 10 years for PH candidates [15 years for PWD-SC/ST candidates and 13 years for PWD-OBC candidates.] 
(d) An additional age relaxation of 5 years is offered to those applicants who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division in the State of Jammu and Kashmir during the period 01-01-1980 to 31-12-1989. Any applicant intending to avail the relaxation under this category will have to submit a certificate from a The District Magistrate in Kashmir Division within whose jurisdiction she/he had ordinarily resided or any other authority designated on his behalf by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir.
(e) For Ex-servicemen the upper age limit shall be relaxed by allowing the deduction of length of actual military service from his actual age and the resultant age should not exceed the maximum age limit prescribed for the post by more than three years (8 years in case of SC/ST; 6 years in case of OBC candidates). 
(e) For Widows / Divorced Women / Women judicially separated and who are not remarried the upper age limit is 35 years for those belonging to Unreserved/General category, 38 years for OBC category and 40 years for SC/ST category.
NOTE I: The benefit of reservation and age relaxation will not be offered to OBC candidates falling within the creamy layer.
NOTE II: For FCI employees, there will be no upper age limit.  
NOTE III: In case of PWDs, only those persons whose Degree of Disability is 40% and above are eligible to avail benefits offered to PWDs and apply for the posts earmarked for PWDs.
Visually handicapped (VH) candidates with visual disabilities of forty per cent or above can avail the assistance of a Scribe in the Written Examination and Passage Reader for Computer Proficiency Test, subject to such request being made in the application form. Question papers and answer sheets will not be provided in Braille.
